Our WIC CAN HELP campaign is designed to help the one million California families we serve to survive and protect their children’s health in these tough times. The campaign builds local agency staff capacity to inform and connect WIC families with all possible community assistance programs, from dental care to foreclosure counseling to utility assistance.

WIC CAN HELP identifies lesser-known referral resources, and makes sure the local WIC network can easily share the information with WIC participants using downloadable multi-language flyers or information. Each month, we share a new resource and referral “survival kit” which highlights assistance or program linkages that local WIC staff might suggest to young families in need. WIC CAN HELP is funded by grants from The California Endowment and Kaiser Permanente Community Benefits.

CNC Scholarship Program

The California Nutrition Corps is a scholarship fund established to support employees of California local WIC programs who are advancing their professional careers within the WIC program. The vision of California Nutrition Corps is to nurture and support individuals with the competency, talent, and dedication that are key to WIC's proven effectiveness. Frontline staff from the community, often graduates of WIC themselves, need more affordable, convenient and achievable opportunities in order to complete their educational goals and professional training. Funding is provided through a generous grant from General Mills.

WHAT'S NEW FOR THE 2011-2012 CNC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM?

We have been very fortunate to have part of our CNC Scholarship Program funded by the Vitamin Settlement grant for the past three years.  Unfortunately, since the grant expired this year, we are unable to provide awards for IBCLC and CLE.

Applicants may apply once per category, be currently employed in a WIC program for at least six continuous months, and currently enrolled in a dietetic internship, undergraduate, or graduate program.  Unfortunately, two year associate degree programs are not eligible.

All CNC Scholarship applications are due by the close of business on January 17, 2012.  Award letters will be sent to scholarship winners by February 28, 2012.  For the CNC Scholarship Application Package, please click on the link below:
