WIC Connects Farms & Families
Many WIC families would like to shop at farmers’ markets, and now they can use their regular WIC benefits at many California markets to buy locally-grown fruits and vegetables! CWA’s Farm2WIC Campaign promotes the option of redeeming the monthly WIC Fruit and Vegetable Check (FVC, or cash value voucher (CVV) benefit) at authorized farmers’ markets throughout California. This is in addition to the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) seasonal checks! You’ll find information and tools for market managers & growers/vendors and WIC staff linked below.
Farm2WIC: Tapping New Markets, Building Healthy Communities, an issue brief to share with farmers, market managers, supporters of farmers’ markets and WIC, and local and state decision makers.
Farm2WIC Toolkit: Connecting Farmers, Market Managers, Local WIC Agencies & Partners with Families for Vibrant Markets and Healthy Communities, includes Farm2WIC information, Resources, and Tips for Success for market and local WIC agency staff.
For Market Managers & Vendors
Want to sell more of the fruits and vegetables you grow? Getting authorized to accept the FVC is separate from the seasonal Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), but it’s easy! Learn more here.
For Local WIC Agencies
Are your local farmers’ markets able to accept the FVC as well as FMNP checks? Once they are, consider using the resources below to promote this shopping option with the families you serve. Learn more here.
